Current Projects:
A surge happens in a fraction of a second and can cause serious damage to electronic and electro mechanical equipment. When electricity leaves the power station generators, it is essentially a pure sine wave. As electricity circulates through the supply system, however, the size and shape of the sine wave is changed or "disturbed" by the loads (equipment) attached to it. One example of this is the "dip" you see in your lights when an air-conditioner switches on. Surges enter your business through electrical systems and attack any electrical equipment. Most power disturbances are not caused by blackouts or power loss but by power surges or noise transients.
Surge DivertersSurge Diverters provide protection from external sources (i.e. lightning) and are used where the extra cost of multi-stage filtering is not justified. They are single-stage, shunt connected devices, which are generally used for point-of-entry (main switchboard) protection. They provide coarse protection that is suitable for the protection of non-sensitive equipment. Please Note: Surge Diverters require installation by a Licensed Electrician.

Power Filters - HardwiredThese filter out electrical noise but do not protect against prolonged voltage dips or power outages. Multi-Stage Series Filters utilise surge diverters and LC networks in combination. It is best to choose a filter with a high surge rating as they offer excellent protection from lightning induced spikes & surges. Both plug-in (plugs into a normal GPO) and hardwired (installed into an electrical switchboard) power filters are available. Many "budget priced" power line filters provide little or no actual filtering, however the Novaris brand of power line filters (such as the plug-in PP10 series, or the hardwired SF series) are fully functional low pass filters designed to effectively filter low and high frequency noise that may be caused by lightning strikes and other electrical disturbances as well as radio frequency interference. Novaris filters remove noise that may appear between active and neutral, active and earth and neutral and earth. This is called all mode filtering. Novaris power line filters contain high-energy metal oxide varistors in an all mode configuration on both the line and load sides. These two stages plus the filter circuit ensure effective protection for even the most sensitive equipment.
